Encourage someone; speak life!

Door: Matthew Helland

Bemoedig een ander; spreek leven!

Hearing God's voice for yourself and for others—is actually not difficult or complicated. What it does require is childlike faith and the willingness to step out and encourage, build up, or comfort someone. (1 Corinthians 14:3)

Practical ways to grow in this:

  • Use a random object or picture from the game "Cards on the Table" to encourage someone. This is great fun to do in the evening with family or friends. Take time to express appreciation for one another using these pictures or objects. Help each other not only see how you view the other person—but also how God might see them.

  • Pick ten people from your contacts list and send each a personal message, for example via WhatsApp or Messenger. Simply say: “Hey, you came to mind, and I want to encourage you that…”

  • Write a card, send flowers, a gift card, or create a drawing with an uplifting message. If you’re not sure what to say, use a Bible verse, a song lyric, or an image to show them how deeply God loves them. If you have children, pray with them and ask God to bring an encouraging picture to their minds—then mail the drawing together.

We're not always used to receiving compliments or heartfelt encouragement out of the blue. But it’s truly special and you never know how much a small gesture or word might touch someone deeply.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21), so choose to spread God's life today through your words and actions.
