A Break Away while study

Een Break Away tijdens mijn studie

My name is Chaja van den Pol. I’m twenty years old, and God has called me to work together with Him so that young people may come to know Him better.

During my time in high school, I didn’t yet know what further studies to pursue. So, after my final exams, I decided to take a gap year to get to know God—and myself—better. Halfway through that year, God spoke to me and told me to organize a Christian youth camp. Even though I had no idea how to go about it, I was certain it would succeed, because the idea came from God. I folded my hands and asked Him to provide.

I decided to start studying Event Management after summer, but from the very first day, I felt this wasn’t where I belonged. I started wondering if I should study to become a teacher (Pabo), and that evening my mother suggested giving it a try. That meant I would already start the following week. I withdrew to pray and asked God if this was the right choice. I felt peace about it and registered for the course.

Meanwhile, I was actively organizing the youth camp. The team quickly came together and finding a location was no problem. But there were very few registrations. Every evening I asked God to provide, and whenever I began to lose hope, I reminded myself that this idea wasn’t my own.

“Whenever I began to lose hope, I reminded myself that this idea wasn’t my own.”

During the second week at Pabo, I was once again praying for the camp registrations. Suddenly, the name of a boy from my class came to mind. I needed to tell him about the camp and I did the very next day. He was excited and shared the flyer in a group chat with his friends. This happened three days before the deadline, and the number of participants tripled in those days. That’s how Break Away was born a youth organization that creates activities for young people to connect with one another and with God.

I never knew what I wanted to become, but God showed me that I already am much and that together with Him, I get to discover my destiny!
