On a saturday night

Proverbs 24:5-6 (GNB): “Only a wise man is strong; his insight is his power. For through consultation you can face a battle, and with many good advisors you can triumph.”

I have the habit of opening my Bible before going to sleep at night. While reading Proverbs, I came across the verse above. It lingered in my mind. At that moment, I wasn’t yet aware that the verse was speaking to me  because it fits so well with a difficult case I’m facing at work.

When I arrived at work the next day, I “happened” to run into a colleague by the coffee machine. Usually, our interaction doesn’t go beyond “hello, have a nice day,” but this time she brought up the difficult case. She’s tangentially involved. The outcome is still uncertain  what will happen? What’s the best way to approach it? Later that day, I bumped into her “unexpectedly” again in the stairwell. By then, I had gathered more information, and we briefly discussed possible next steps.

That night in bed, I thought back on the many advisors and the strength they bring. I thanked God. He provides in ways I don't expect. What grace, and what a faithful God!
